Chapter 8 (Acids & Bases) Read and study pp 266 thru 294 and ONLY Section 9.4 in Chapter 9 on the Half-Life of Radioactive Isotopes (pp 315-318)

 Be able to answer verbally in class the Visual Problems (8.67 thru 8.70) on pg 296
 Do the  following questions and problems from Chapter 8 for homework: 

2, 10, 12, 16, 24, 25, 34, 36, 40 44, 62, 64 and 65 and Chapter 9 problems 9.32,  9.54 and 9.58

 In addition be ready to explain the following:
 
bulletDescribe a Bronsted-Lowry acid and base
bulletExplain what a buffer solution is and how it works in terms of a weak acid and its conjugate base
bulletExplain the terms conjugate acid and conjugate base
bulletDescribe a strong acid and a weak acid and give examples of each. See  Table 8.3 and  go over the names and formulas of strong and weak acids.
